WHAT’S IT FOR: It washes away the dirt better by making water cling to dirt better. It’s a replacement for ingredients like sodium tallowate and other ingredients derived from animals.  It has a score of 1 on the EWG.org Skin Deep scale.

DO NOT use Neodefend preservative (aka gluconolactone SB) with ascorbic acid (L-ascorbic acid; aka Vitamin C). The combination can product benzene, a known carcinogen.

According to lotioncrafter.com, the use of gluconolactone SB along with l-ascorbic acid and citric acid should be avoided
