WHAT IS IT: Ecklonia Radiata Extract is Australian Sea Kelp, a highly prized seaweed often used in hair care products.   It has a score of 0 (the lower the better) at EWG.com.  Its also NOT found on GoodGuide’s lists of toxic chemicals.

WHAT’S IT FOR:  Its often used to condition the hair and to help promote healthy hair.

FOUND IN:   Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deeeeep Conditioner;  Other products: shampoos,  styling lotions, leave-in conditioners and hair sprays.

Cleansers: If using a gum (xanthan, tara, cellulose, etc) to thicken a cleanser, gel the water phase 1st. Then, add traditional surfactants. Some have said creating a gel before adding surfactants can cause a clumpy mess. However, other formulators swear that the way to form the best shampoos, for example, is to create the gel first. Then, slowly stir in the surfactants. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
