INCI: Hydrolyzed Quinoa

{snippet adszooleft} Hydrolyzed Quinoa (keen wa) is a protein which has been hydrolyzed so that it penetrates the hair shaft to strengthen you hair.

It also has film forming activities which help hydrate the hair and improve shine.  It is also thought to help make hair feel silkier and look smoother while fighting dryness.

The Hydrolyzed Quinoa I get from is a liquid and very easy to incorporate into formulations.  I add it during the COOL DOWN phase after the emulsion has cooled a bit.

It is thought to the the king of hydrolyzed proteins, being more helpful than hydrolyzed oat or hydrolyzed silk.  It contains 8 of the essential amino acids with high levels of cysteine, lysine, cystine, and more.

Recommendations for using hydrolyzed quinoa have been issued as well.  Using as little as 1%, 1 time, can produce a 16% reduction in damage on the surface of where you use it. It can also increase shine by 26%.

Using Hydrolyzed Quinoa at 1% 5 times can cause a 32% reduction in damage and improve wet and dry combing by 79% to 83%.  This treatment can also increase shine by 51%.

When it penetrates, as little as 1% can produce a 26% reduction in damage.

Hydrolyzed Quinoa is not only helpful in your hair, but also for your skin.  It helps to form a protective barrier on the skin and is said to help repair damage and bind moisture to dry skin.

Hydrolyzed Quinoa can be used in:
deep conditioners
leave ins
face creams

It is also thought to help soothe irritated skin and soften skin and hair.  If you can get your hands on it, try it out and see if it will improve your hair or help hydrate your skin.
