Hello curlyteas! Welcome to the brand new forum.
I've been formulating with Vitamin C. No recipes I want to post just yet (as of this post), but there is some information I've come across that I want to share with you guys.
Apparently, you have to be careful with what you pair Vitamin C with when formulating and using on your skin. For example, if you're using a Vitamin C serum, you're not supposed to use another product with AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) or BHA (beta hydroxy acid) in it. For example, Glycolic acid is an AHA. So anything with glycolic acid should not be applied to the skin during the same time you're applying a Vitamin C product.
These are the NO-NOs. DO NOT use Vitamin C with these:
- AHA
- BHA
- Niacinamide
- Panthenol
- Collagen
- Benzoyl Peroxide
This information is going around the web, but many don't cite the studies that say this. I'll say that out of an abundance of caution, you should limit what you use Vitamin C with in one skincare setting. Maybe use Vitamin C serum one night, then the next night you can use whatever else you want to use.
Here's some more info about it:
