Summary: The portrayal of black women on tv paints the false narrative of a monolithic group of narrow-minded uncouth women who are quick to anger and unworthy of being respected.

The lack of a diverse array of black women misleads the general public into believing what they see on television is reality.  Focusing on the stereotype leaves out other types of black women altogether.

Producers/creators of these shows are trying to make the biggest amount of money in the shortest period of time.  It is in their best interest to find people who will make quick money by being as outrageous as possible.

Characters who make for 'good tv' increase ratings, and subsequently, the people in control can ask for more money from advertisers.
