DO NOT use Neodefend preservative (aka gluconolactone SB) with ascorbic acid (L-ascorbic acid; aka Vitamin C). The combination can product benzene, a known carcinogen.

According to lotioncrafter.com, the use of gluconolactone SB along with l-ascorbic acid and citric acid should be avoided
