Kukui Tamanu Butter [VIDEO] makes approx 114 grams (fits 4 ounce jar) – This is the best version of this recipe I’ve made so far because of the way it easily spreads and quickly absorbs.

INSTRUCTIONS

ONE JAR METHOD
# Add all of your ingredients in a glass mason jar
# Place that jar into a pot
# Place enough water in the pot to cover the height of your ingredients in the jar
# Heat until all ingredients are melted
# Remove from heat

For a regular, NON-WHIPPED type of consistency:
# Let the mix cool at room temp for at least 5-7 minutes
# Sit in the freezer for 10 minutes.
!!!BE CAREFUL OF EXTREME TEMPERATURE CHANGES WHEN USING GLASS!!!
# If you leave it for too long and it thickens in the glass jar, you have the option of reheating it for a smoother final consistency.
# If mix is cooled enough to be poured into your final container, do that.
# Let the mix sit until fully cooled/room temp.

MY NOTES

# Ooo! This is the best version of this recipe I’ve made so far because of the way it easily spreads and quickly absorbs
# If you substitute any of the butters or oils for shea butter, please remember that melted shea butter needs to cool quickly to avoid graininess.  After pouring it into the final container, sit it in the freezer for another 10 minutes OR until its completely solid again all the way through. If you don’t do this, your final butter could become grainy.
# You can try to whip this butter. I’m not sure how it will turn out or if it would whip up like traditional shea butter.
# Caprylic Capric Triglycerides is used to help make the butter have a much less greasy after-feel and to absorb quicker.

#Tamanu oil can have a sickly-sweet scent. Don’t use too much of it unless you’re sure you can stand a prolonged exposure to the scent (assuming you’re not using another fragrance oil)

Tips
Anionic surfactants are said to clean better than nonionic surfactants (no charge) because anionic surfactants use a negative charge to remove oil and dirt from the surface of skin and hair.

Anionic surfactants

Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate (aka GentleFoam SCG) [Ecocert/NPA approved]
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (aka BabyFoam SCI)
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate (aka EasyFoam)

Nonionic surfactants

Polyglucose/Lactylate Blend (can be combined with mild anionic surfactants)
Decyl glucoside
Coco Glucoside (can be combined with anionic surfactants)
